Falling in love with Canada and Hockey Once Again

These past hockey playoffs, I was in Canada (Burlington, ON) when they began. I also spent time in downtown Toronto on the day of a Leafs playoff game working in our Canada office.

I have a co-worker who said Liam Fouty was at his son’s house watching the Maple Leafs because he is a huge fan of them even though he plays for the Blue Jackets. It’s just a different culture up in Canada. A way of life. It’s infectious.

And so as I rolled back to my hotel room exhausted one night I watched Connor McDavid and the Oilers win their first game in the opening round against the Kings.

Now part of it was my close friend became friends with Evander Kane and had dinner with Connor McDavid. But I’ve always kind of been fond of the Oilers since they took Taylor Hall one overall.

I watched more playoff hockey this season between the Oilers, the Seattle Kraken and a little bit of the Vegas Knights series than I have in many years.

I’m thrilled to be back into the game of hockey and writing about it each day now.
